Delete Account
Important: Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. Export anything you want to keep first.
How to Delete Your Account
You can delete your GoodShare account yourself at any time, on Android and on iPhone.
Option 1: In the app
- Open GoodShare and tap the gear icon (Settings) at the top of the book list.
- Under "General", tap "Delete Account".
- Tick the box in the confirmation dialog and confirm the deletion.
On iPhone, depending on how you sign in, you confirm your sign-in once more first. The app then signs you out.
Do not mix it up with "Delete Data": that option deletes your books, transactions, and categories but keeps your account.
Option 2: By email
Write to support [at] goodshare.app, ideally from the email address you sign in with. This also works if the app is no longer installed. We process your request within 3 business days.
What Gets Deleted
- Your account (sign-in data, email address, user ID)
- Your profile (name, color) and your Pro status, including trial data
- All books you own, with all their transactions, categories, recurring payments, budgets, and savings goals, for their members as well
- All receipt images in your books
- Your memberships in other people's books and the invitations you created
- Your devices registered for notifications, your notification settings, and the counters for receipt scans and AI requests
- The app's data on the device you delete from
What Is Kept and for How Long
- Your transactions in other people's books: They stay there and remain visible to the other members, because they are part of the shared book. Your membership is removed.
- Backups and logs: Remaining copies are removed no later than 30 days after deletion.
- Crash reports: Firebase Crashlytics deletes them automatically after 90 days.
- Usage statistics: pseudonymous data in Firebase Analytics, deleted automatically after 14 months.
- Deletion note for App Store subscriptions: a pseudonymous entry without name, email address, or content. It makes sure that a running App Store subscription does not stay tied to the deleted account.
- Purchase records: Google Play and Apple keep their records of your purchases under their own rules.
Before You Delete
- Export your data: In the book list, open the menu of a book card and choose "Export book".
- Cancel your subscription: Deleting your account does not end a running subscription. Cancel GoodShare Pro first in Google Play or in the subscription settings of your Apple Account.
- Shared books: Books you own are deleted for their members too. If they want to keep the data, they should export the book beforehand.
- No recovery: We cannot restore deleted data.
